By COURTNEY MARTIN, LTN Staff Writer
March 15, 2002 - A 77-year-old woman is in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center today after a single car wreck Wednesday afternoon on
Reepsville Road.
Hazel Kiser, of Cansler Road in Vale, was seriously injured when she lost control of her vehicle and wrecked around 3:30 p.m.
Kiser’s suffered two collapsed lungs, a broken ankle and a head injury.
She was rushed to Lincoln Medical Center then flown to Carolinas Medical Center.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Officer Brian Joines, the incident occurred when Kiser ran off the right side of the road. She apparently over corrected, went across the road and
ended up in a deep ditch, hitting a tree next to a barbed wire fence.
In the ditch, the car’s roof was about even with the road.
“I’ve seen worse wrecks,” said Joines. “But you never know when someone will get seriously injured.”
