Teens travel to London, England

Cheerleaders march in New Year’s parade

January 15, 2003 - Two West Lincoln High School cheerleaders helped ring in the new year in London, England.

Cassie Ledbetter and Joey Price participated in the 2003 London New Year Parade. The local teens represented the West Lincoln High School varsity cheerleaders by marching in the two mile procession from Parliament Square to Piccadilly that was watched by approximately 20,000 spectators.

Ledbetter and Price were chosen by the Universal Cheerleaders Association when they attended camp at Wake Forest University during the summer. They were two of four cheerleaders who were chosen as the top nine percent of the participants attending the camp and is based on superior cheerleading and dance skills.

More than 900 cheerleaders and their families traveled to Europe to join in the celebration.

The Lincoln County girls toured Winsor, Oxford, the London Dungeon, the Tower of London and St. Paul’s Cathedral. They were able to meet cheerleaders from all over the United States and people from all over the world.
