Rec Department to hold racquet ball tournament

The Lincolnton/Lincoln County recreation department is sponsoring a racquetball tournament beginning Jan. 28 at the Lentz Recreation Center.

Men’s and Women’s singles and doubles matches will be held. There will be three divisions: advanced, intermediate, and beginner for each category.

Cost is $10 per player.

East Lincoln sports boosters meeting

The East Lincoln Sports Boosters will hold their monthly meeting on Monday at & p.m., in Ms. Haights’ room.

 

George Whitfield’s 30th Annual Baseball Clinic

The clinic is open to all boys, Little League through High School, and all coaches everywhere.

This will be one of the finest clinics in the country this year. It will be on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m at Goldsboro High School. The cost of attending the clinic is $55 per person pre-registration, which includes lunch, and will be $65 at the door.

All boys attending who are 15 years and under can bring their fathers with them, free of charge. Fathers can eat for $7.

The clinic will have seminars by forty college coaches and pro-scouts on pitching, hitting, infield and outfield play, catching, conditioning, and on what college coaches and pro scouts are looking for in today’s players.  

To celebrate the 30th Annual Clinic, three $500 college scholarships will be awarded. A recipient must pre-register to have his name drawn. For more information call 252-321-2833.

 

Hickory YMCA sports registration

Hickory Foundation YMCA announces spring sports registration schedule

The Hickory Foundation YMCA, located at 701 1st St, NW, in Hickory, announces registration dates for the following youth spring sports.

Youth soccer: Monday, January 14 – Wednesday, February 13

Girls’ Volleyball: Monday, January 13 – Wednesday, March 6

Youth Baseball: Monday, March 4 – Friday, April 5

Fees for ages 3-4 are $35 for members and $50 for participants. Fees for all other ages are $40 for members and $60 for participants.

Registration for Adult Volleyball will be held Monday, March 4 – Monday, April 1. Fee is $250 per team.

The Carolina Warriors 14-and- Under baseball team is looking for players interested in playing AAU.

Ten Star Basketball Camp

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only. Boy and girls, ages 10-19 are eligible to apply.
